Welcome to the World of Reading!
In 4th grade, we will learn to analyze text. We will discuss the plot and support our answers with DETAILS!
Here are the class novels we use throughout the year!
Core 1 and 2 ( C level) - 1st Marking Period- Matilda by Road Dahl
In this lighthearted plot, we will meet our amazing protagonist, Matilda. She will show us how she uses her unique talents to deal with the hardships in her life. It will be a journey of good verses evil where fortunately good always wins! We will analyze plot elements and authors craft. We will discuss Roald Dahl's AMAZING use of literary elements especially characterization. This will not only help us become better readers, his writing skills will serev as a mentor text for our very own fictional narratives.
Core 1 and 2 ( C level) - 3rd Marking Period- Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of N.I.M.H. by Robert C. O'Brien

Core 3 and 4 ( B level) - 1st Marking Period- Frindle by Andrew Clements
Together we will meet our protagonist, Nick Allen. We will learn to appreciate his somewhat mischievious nature as he navigates through his year with Mrs. Grainger. Sometimes things aren't always as they seem. We will identify story elements and understand the power of words.
